First Bottles

Alex and Nate got their first bottles last week!

Alex is up to 50 ml each feeding, and he eats 8 times a day! He started with 1 bottle feeding a day and already is up to 3 a day! Pretty soon all his feeding times will be with bottles and they will be able to take out his feeding line. His first bottle feeding went so well! He downed the bottle in 20 minutes and kept his oxygen and heart beat up the whole time. The specialist was really impressed. His IV line will be removed this week so all his nutrition will come from his milk.

Nate's first bottle

Nate got his first bottle last week too. Today he will start his feeding again and they are going to do one bottle a day with him too. They will start his feeds off slow and build them up so that it's easier on his stomach after surgery. He is recovering really well and looks great. He had a 2 day rest after surgery and now it's back to work! He's a lot more awake now and I can't wait to see him tonight. We should be able to hold him again today or tomorrow too.
