21 months!

This month has been a blur. Between getting sick, teething and the holidays this month has flown by. We have been playing with all our new toys, the boys both love their new books, pirate ship, slide, toy train, play house and new little pets. Alex is very brave and will go down the slide by himself, Nate gets close and then changes his mind and shakes his head, NO! We have been playing a lot more at the house because it has been cold and rainy lately. The boys are both getting probably 4 teeth each right now. They have been eating a ton and I'm thinking that they are going through a growth spurt. All the 2T clothes are fitting perfectly and I need to work on getting 3T stuff for the summer. This is the first time in almost 2 years that I only have the size they are wearing in the closet. Hopefully they'll slow down a little. Their pants have been short lately and their shoes are getting tight though. They also have little pot bellies now.

They have decided that sleep is for babies and have been very difficult at bed time. We actually dropped their nap before Christmas and have been putting them to bed at 8pm, this works well when they are at home but not on daycare days. Still trying to get this play/sleep balance right. Very tired parents! They have been playing together more and also fighting with each other more. When one is doing something fun the other tries to rip them out of the way so that they can play instead of their brother. They will push each other and steal toys, but they also laugh and play together more. They like to hold each others hands and pull one another or spin in a circle. They also like to hide from each other and then be discovered. They love fitting toys into other toys or baskets. You have no idea what you'll find in our house. Blocks in the fire place, sippy cups in the drawers under the TV, pacifiers in the blinds, a shark stuffed into a barn, a pirate ship stuffed with ducks, etc.

been really liking playing outside and Jim has been having fun with them in the backyard a lot lately. Nathan jumped for the first time on the couch the other day so that will be a fun skill. They also love handing us things. Sometimes they will want the item back and other times they will walk away when we try to give it back and say 'no' shaking their head like we're crazy. We've been to the zoo for two weekends in a row now and they have a blast in the children's area. They love running around and checking everything out. Alex gets excited to see the 'kitties' which means anything with fur. Nathan got really excited yesterday when he went to the wagon and dug his snacks out of my diaper bag! They also both love pressing buttons, especially the TV and DVD player ones, the garage door opener and the light switches. They are still the cutest, sweetest little boys, they just need to sleep better so that we can remember this better!
